As outlined in the Future of Jobs Report 2025, the World Economic Forum has identified the jobs that will be prominent in the future and the essential skills needed to secure these positions. The Forum is committed to addressing the challenges and changes in the job market and is taking proactive steps to guide individuals and organizations towards successful adaptation.

The annual World Economic Forum meeting held earlier this year focused on the projection that over 170 million new jobs will be generated over the next decade. The release of the Future of Jobs Report 2025 sheds light on the major global trends influencing the labor market transformation.

The report highlights the occupations expected to witness significant growth in demand and the skills required for future employment opportunities. Projections indicate the creation of 170 million new jobs, underpinned by advancements in technology, the shift towards a greener economy, and demographic shifts worldwide.

The findings from the Future of Jobs Report 2025 stress that the global job market is undergoing a revolution driven by technological advancements, eco-friendly transitions, and economic shifts. Currently, emerging roles make up fourteen percent of global employment, with the potential to displace 92 million existing jobs while creating 78 million new opportunities.

To gain insight into the emerging job landscape and evolving skill requirements, the research project involved surveying over a thousand leading employers across diverse industries. The analysis covered twenty-two industrial clusters employing over fourteen million individuals worldwide.

Emerging career paths include roles fueled by technological advancements such as artificial intelligence, big data analysis, and fintech engineering. The report forecasts the emergence of specific professions, including artificial intelligence specialists, machine learning experts, and data scientists.

The research projects a significant net increase in certain occupations and a reduction in others over the coming years. The top positions experiencing rapid growth are those vital to economic activities, such as farmers and food processing workers. The agriculture sector is projected to create 34 million new jobs by 2030, driven by green transition initiatives and demographic changes.

Furthermore, industries such as food processing and healthcare are anticipated to witness notable job growth, especially in fields requiring caregiving and counseling expertise. The report underlines the importance of developing specific skills to meet the demands of future job roles.

Employers foresee substantial changes in the fundamental skills required by the labor market by 2030, emphasizing the need for continuous learning and upskilling initiatives. The shift towards technology-based skills, including artificial intelligence, big data analytics, and cybersecurity, is evident in the evolving job market.

In addition to technical skills, soft skills like creativity, resilience, flexibility, and creativity are becoming increasingly crucial. The report also highlights the rising importance of continuous learning, curiosity, and adaptability throughout one’s career.

The findings underscore the need for companies to invest in reskilling and upskilling programs to align their workforce with evolving market trends. The World Economic Forum’s Center for the New Economy and Society collaborates with various stakeholders to support individuals worldwide in preparing for the future economy through initiatives like the Reskilling Revolution and the Jobs Initiative.

As the job market undergoes significant transformations, providing workers with a balance of technical and human skills will be crucial. By adapting to the changing landscape and investing in skills development, individuals can navigate the future of work successfully.
